I spent my birthday talking about making money on Substack with Rob Riker and Danielle Wright.

Apparently, that's my idea of a party now, but here's what stuck with me:

What's the point of building a business if you end up dreading the thing you started because you enjoyed it?

I still believe in consistency, I still want my three publications to grow, and I want my writing to earn money, but I also want to have FUN doing it. 💜

Your turn: What's ONE thing you've changed (or want to change) about how you run your Substack so you actually enjoy showing up?

Publishing less? Selling more? Taking breaks? Letting go of a rule you made for yourself?

We want to hear it. 👑

Just watching the replay (I woke up late, so I didn't catch it live) and wanted to throw in my 2 cents, except now that the penny is discontinued, I'll round up to a nickel.

I have three publications, and sometimes I go live under the ones that aren't my main one. It helps to get them some followers/subs, since all my followers are still notified of the live. For instance, if I talk to a creator who writes fiction or poetry, I'll go live under my fiction/poetry pub. Only those subs are emailed when I go live, BUT all followers get notified in the app that Brandon Ellrich is live.

Thanks for tuning into the replay, Brandon! I literally do the same thing for my 3 publications when I go live! I choose which publication I’m going live under by the topic of the conversation
